Amazon has its own app store pre-downloaded on all its devices, including Fire Tablets, but the apps within it are very limited. However, Fire OS runs on a modified version of Android, so it's possible to download files for the Google Play Store and install the Play Store on your device. All you will need is an Amazon Fire tablet, a Google account, and the four required APK files.

2. Open these instructions in your Silk browser (just go to your browser and type -google-play-on-kindle-fire.html ). This is so that you can download and install the necessary files straight to your tablet. You'll find it helpful to have the instructions open on another device, too, for easy reference.
To factory reset, open your Settings and tap Device Options, and then tap Reset to Factory Defaults. Then follow the on-display instructions, and after the process is complete, your tablet will reboot, and you will find yourself at the setup screen. You can then set it up as new, download/transfer all your data, and try installing Google Play on your Fire tablet again.
For GPS, fire tablets do not use Android GPS stacks. Instead, they use Amazon location service. But Amazon location services use part of the Android GPS stacks. When any Google apps or any apps from Play store set up location services, the location services on fire tablet may be messed up. There are NO solutions to this.

Very easy to follow directions except for one thing. My docs folder was a little different but I did find my downloads. They were labeled differently, though, so I installed backwards from top to bottom. I realized halfway through that the name of the fine was there, after I clicked on it, at the top of the page. So I read through some of your other comments and uninstalled playstore, went back to the files and installed in the right order, which, for my kindle, was bottom to top. Just for anyone else wondering as I did what the order, on the kindle, was.
Update. Found if I closed out and back in and went straight to the docs app I could get the install button to light up, once each time. So did it 4 times for the 4 downloads and it worked. Who knows why but google play is now on my screen. Thanks!
Hi, my old kindle fire is running the latest 2nd generation operating system 8.5.1_user_5159720. I very much want to get the Google Play Store. I have looked at several tutorials on Youtube and tried to download the APKs as shown. However, for what ever reason and most like due to the inability to upgrade the operating system any further, all of these ways have failed. Could you help me with a walk through or stir me in the right direction to get this done. I have a fair knowledge of computer downloading files. I suspect that I will have to download all those APKs to my PC or an android cell phone and manually install them on the Kindle.

I used this workaround for my new Amazon Fire HD 10 yesterday. I used the downloads for the Fire 7 (9th edition) because my Fire 10 said 9th edition. It worked perfectly! There are some of my apps that are not compatible with the android version on the fire, but all the main apps I use are working with no issues thus far and hopefully there will be none! I want to say thank you for posting this so that I can get the best out of my Fire tablet!

Or maybe it is pre-installed on your smartphone or tablet, but you want to update or revert to your previous version. In either case, you may need to download the Google Play APK file from a third-party app store or tech website.
Install Google Play store to all new devices. You will be able to use the common Google Play app and search there. It will take some time to install, but at least it should solve the problem. Here is an article which describes required steps: -google-play-kindle-fire-4570988

Can someone confirm the latest 11th gen. fire hd 10 tablet by amazon is good to go as a remote? Also is the roon app available on amazon? Finally for using just as a remote is there any advantage of the 64gb model vs 32gb model?
Before installing the Play Store, you must first enable installation from outside the native app store on your Fire tablet. After that, you will need to download the aforementioned files and install them.
Amazing, absolutely amazing. I did not expect it to be this easy! Everything worked just like you said it would, no problems, and now I have the full play store. An already amazing tablet just became even more amazing.
works great, Just follow the instructions step by step. Download the apk files in order and open and install them in order and then open each apk file in order like explained and install each one then click close after each one. After all installed i opened the google play apk file when it was done installing by clicking open instead of done when it finished. I signed in and then searched for youtube and then downloaded youtube , O opened it and It prompted me to update like explained above and did that as well.everything works fine. Dont skip a step, just follow instructions listed above.
Excellent article, thanks! Just bought the Amazon fire 7 5th generation tablet. It has been updated to OS 188.8.131.52 and the play store installation worked exactly as promised. When I went to download your suggested apps, the website informed me there were newer versions of 2 of the apps, so I downloaded those instead. Everything went smooth as silk. I also installed Google Now, Google maps and Google keyboard and now I have voice recognition integrated into almost everything. Plus I still have Alexa! Thanks!
No matter what type of tablet you're considering, you'll definitely want to pay attention to the total amount of storage available in the unit. The more storage you have, the more pictures, videos and games you can download or store. Some tablets have a microSD card slot for expanding memory capacity. If you're looking at iPads, you can find them with a range of storage amounts, up to 512GB. If you're not sure how much storage you need, it's recommended to size up so you don't run out of storage space.
